Transients

Transients are also known as Bigg's killer whales and are different from Resident orcas in that they are a different sub species, particularly in how they feed. Bigg's are often mammal eating orcas that reside in the Salish Sea and have a bigger, more stable population than their cousins in Puget Sound. They often feed on seals, other porpoises and sea lions.

Meet Jack (T137A). One of the most recognizable Bigg’s killer whales in the Salish Sea — and one of the most epic whales you can ever photograph. Jack is massive. Broad-bodied. Powerful. And when T137A comes flying out of the water in a full breach, it’s pure controlled chaos. Blink, hesitate, or react too late — and the moment is gone. credit: Wake up to Adventure.
