What even IS this movie?! What did I just watch? Horrible. This movie did NOT age well at ALL. First off, the plot feels like it went off course with the whole parent divorce/whitehouse scandal undercover story thing then back to the actual science fiction aspect of it then a whoping 360 with the whole 90's era space movie focused on Americans and boomer generations. Also nice shot of the twin towers getting completely annihilated by the water. And why the fuck is every white bitch in their 30s pregnant? Seriously have you noticed the amount of pregnant bitches and kids in this movie? God the 90s were bittersweet for me, sure it was my childhood, but god damn I hate that generation and who it was influenced by. Also wtf is the science in this movie? Really thats how you destroy a comet by NUKING it WITH people on the comet?! Love the token Russian dude also. But for real, props to the russian keyboard, that was a nice detail they added. And Elijah Wood was a cutie, so innocent and sweet, but wtf was the wedding scene? Really, ya gonna marry off your kids so that can get you into the "limestone bunker"? This movie was absolute garbage, yet part of me found it amusing and thats why I gave it two instead of one stars. I'll probably never watch this again. JFC.

I beleive this was the first studio ghibli movie I watched and right away I knew I had to watch more from the amazing one of a kind director Hayao Miyazaki. What I like about this film a little more than the others is that it is highly focused on wildlife conservation and human encroachment, which I am a huge advocate for. It's also filled with some of my favorite quotes, starting in the beginning from the boar god Nago, "Soon, all of you will feel my hate and suffer as I have suffered!" Gives me chills every time. Absolute amazing art done as he fades away into a pile of bones. The forest spirit is another favorite and who can forget kodama?! Cute but a little disturbing and I giggle every time I see one with a pronounced butt cheek lmao. My favorite character has to go to Moro, the goddess of wolves and also bonus, voiced by Gillian Anderson who I absolutely adore from X-Files. I highly recommend everyone see this movie at least once, even if they have never seen a studio ghibli movie.
