I beleive this was the first studio ghibli movie I watched and right away I knew I had to watch more from the amazing one of a kind director Hayao Miyazaki. What I like about this film a little more than the others is that it is highly focused on wildlife conservation and human encroachment, which I am a huge advocate for. It's also filled with some of my favorite quotes, starting in the beginning from the boar god Nago, "Soon, all of you will feel my hate and suffer as I have suffered!" Gives me chills every time. Absolute amazing art done as he fades away into a pile of bones. The forest spirit is another favorite and who can forget kodama?! Cute but a little disturbing and I giggle every time I see one with a pronounced butt cheek lmao. My favorite character has to go to Moro, the goddess of wolves and also bonus, voiced by Gillian Anderson who I absolutely adore from X-Files. I highly recommend everyone see this movie at least once, even if they have never seen a studio ghibli movie.

Akira was one of the first anime movies I ever watched and this movie alone introduced to into this fascinating world of japanese animation. Throw in a little 80s dystopian background with absolutely incredible art and I'm all in. I'm giving it 5 stars for being a perfect movie. Pretty sure I have the steelback too. Go watch, now! (I'll probably have to rewatch this to do a proper review, I just wanted to post it because it's one of my favorite movies.
